The inspiration for this sculpture is a play Brooks made during a 1970 World Series game where his range robbed Lee May of extra bases and his arm got May out on an extraordinary throw.

The gloves encircling the sculpture represent the 16 Golden Gloves Brooks received…consecutive years.
